Do you want to know something tasty? I’m launching a NEW cool enamel pin celebrating the city I live in – an Edinburgh pin! This pin will make an unusual Edinburgh souvenir. It’s a burger pin design featuring the playful name given to Edinburgh residents ‘Edinburger’. Some say Edinburgher and others say Edinburger. I prefer the latter. Obviously.
Why an Edinburgh pin?
I simply thought it would be nice to make an Edinburgh based gift to honour the city I live in and love. A gift that offers an edgy Edinburgh souvenir for locals and tourists alike, not just tartan tat (although if I’m honest, I LOVE tartan. And tat) . Combine my souvenir idea with my love of funny wordplay, and the Edinburger pin was born! I love the versatility and unisex appeal of pins, so it was the ideal format.
What do you think – wouldn’t you love to own this cute and cool Edinburgh pin?
How I made my burger
Well, first I mixed the mince with finely chopped onions, added a little seasoning then mixed well with egg and breadcrumbs…
… Hang on, wrong burger.
I hand-drew the burger illustration in pen, then scanned and digitised. Converting my illustrations to digital allows me to make necessary tweaks and easily add areas of colour.
It took a few iterations to get the burger design to the right level of cuteness meets cool. I even tried incorporating a silhouette of Edinburgh castle into my design…… which was fun to work on! However, this version was added to the bottom of the burger pile as it doesn’t work as well at small scale.
I then delivered the final design to the enamel pin manufacturers. All there is to do now is sit and wait, anxiously, for around 4 weeks while they cook up my burger enamel pin.
WHEN WILL MY BURGER BE SERVED…
You may ask yourself – where can I buy a cool pin like this?
Well, the 4 week wait isn’t quite over yet. I’m still waiting on delivery of my cool pins. However, are you ready for some exciting news? You can grab a burger pin at the Ladykerry Birthday Pop Up Gift Shop in a few weeks time . Of course you’re all invited!
